Explosion Proof Thermocouple (Ex d IIC T6) for Hazardous Areas

Safety is non-negotiable in refineries, petrochemical plants, and grain processing facilities. The Hongtai Explosion Proof Thermocouple is engineered to operate safely in environments containing explosive gases (Groups IIA, IIB, IIC) and combustible dust.

Designed to meet strict Ex d IIC T6 standards, this Hazardous area temperature probe features a heavy-duty, flameproof connection head. In the event of an internal ignition caused by electrical arcing, the robust die-cast aluminum housing contains the explosion pressure and cools the flame path, preventing it from igniting the surrounding atmosphere. It is the critical safety barrier for any Oil and gas temperature sensor installation.

Key Technical Features & Safety Benefits

  • Flameproof Enclosure (Ex d): The connection head is designed with high-strength die-cast aluminum (or optional Stainless Steel 316) with extra-thick walls to withstand internal explosion pressures.

  • Leak-Proof Sealing: A specialized sealing ring and thread design prevent toxic or high-pressure process gases from leaking into the conduit system.

  • High Temperature Rating: While the head is rated for ambient safety (T6), the probe itself can measure process temperatures up to 1300°C (using Corundum or High-Alloy protection tubes).

  • Replaceable Insert: The internal measuring element (core) can be replaced quickly without removing the heavy protection tube from the pipe, minimizing downtime in hazardous zones.

  • Global Compliance: Manufactured in accordance with GB3836 and compatible with ATEX thermocouple installation requirements for Zone 1 and Zone 2 applications.

Q: Is this sensor ATEX certified?

A: Our standard models are certified to Chinese National Standards (PCEC), which are harmonized with IECEx standards. For projects specifically requiring European ATEX thermocouple certificates, please specify “ATEX Required” in your inquiry so we can supply the appropriate documentation.

Q: Can I open the head while the plant is running?

A: WARNING: NO. You must strictly follow “Do not open when energized” protocols in hazardous areas. Always de-energize the circuit before opening the cover for maintenance.
